Here I am this Sunday morning, kids downstairs watching TV, wife out at a car boot sale trying to get rid of all that stuff you collect through life as a parent of babies.
So with the car full of battered plastic toys, old buggies, nappy bins, sterlizers etc she set off this morning. If all goes well we might be able to go to the pub for Sunday lunch. This is the first ever car boot sale the Spencer household has been involved in. I have always been a bit snobby about displaying my old stuff for others to pick through and offer pennies for, or just simply reject!
It was strangely sad sorting through the baby stuff for this sale. My youngest is about to start his school days and it really felt like we were leaving a chapter of life behind. Picking through boxes of toys, clothes and first books brought back memories of tiny infants, things that had been forgotten coming back to mind.
What I don't understand is how I can remember clearly events of many years ago, but the experiences and memories of my children when they were tiny seems so vague?
